Episode 41

New year, new you?

In this episode of Big Questions, Short Answers, we are talking about the value of New Year’s resolutions. Personally, I’m not a big New Year’s resolutions person. Every January, people set goals for the coming year that are supposed to set them on the path to having the best year ever—but are they effective?

Resolutions could be a great way to make the changes you’ve always wanted; however, I think they do more harm than good. When you put all the pressure on making large changes at the New Year, eventually you will miss one or two of these habits, and likely pretty quickly, throw away the entire system.

That said, I’m a huge fan of setting goals for yourself! In this episode, I share my tips on how you can set realistic, achievable goals for yourself, and the tactics I use to I actually follow through on the goals I set.

Episode highlights

00:53 Resolutions are simply our goals for next year; we often make them naturally for ourselves and our business.

2:03 Setting goals is clearly a good thing; if you make them attainable, they can be very motivating.

3:35 People have the tendency to throw the baby out with the bathwater once they’ve missed a little step, which is why I’m not a fan of only setting goals at the New Year.

5:25 By focusing on one habit at a time, you can focus on it and figure out what really works for you.
